WEST HOLLYWOOD, March 2, 2026 – The City of West Hollywood will celebrate National Women’s History Month in March with a series of events recognizing and honoring women and women’s history.

Throughout March, street pole banners displayed along Santa Monica Boulevard will commemorate notable American women, civil rights leaders, and women’s rights activists. The City’s featured banners include: Gail Abarbanel; Maya Angelou; Judith F. Baca; Ivy Bottini; Hillary Rodham Clinton; Midge Costanza; Marion Wright Edelman; Alicia Garza; Barbara Gittings; Dolores Huerta; Marsha P. Johnson; Coretta Scott King; Michaela Mendelsohn; Patsy Mink; Zoe Nicholson; Connie Norman; Michelle Obama; Rosa Parks; Dolly Parton; Mary Pickford; Sonia Sotomayor; Nadia Sutton; Gloria Steinem; Elizabeth Taylor; Ruth Williams; and Oprah Winfrey; among others. From Tuesday, March 3, 2026 through Sunday, March 22, 2026globe lanterns above Santa Monica Boulevard will glow purple and gold.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Women and Books, a book club that meets on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss books written by women authors, will discuss The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. Women and Books is co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood through its Women’s Advisory Board and West Hollywood Library. Admission is free. This hybrid event will take place in person at the West Hollywood Library Community Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard, and virtually via Zoom. On Friday, March 6, 2026, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the 10th Annual International Women’s Day Dance Festival (2026) will take place at the City of West Hollywood’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. The festival will showcase a curated selection of powerful dance films featuring work by Cristina Camacho, Jordyn Apostolache, Hanna DiLorenzo, Laura Arend & Brian Ca, Fina Ferrara, and Tamara Ayrapetyan. The evening, hosted by drag artist Linda Recessionista, will also honor Boróka Nagy and Vanessa Hernández Cruz as this year’s Exemplary Women in LA Dance, celebrating their outstanding contributions to the dance community. A celebration at Zinqué West Hollywood, located at 8684 Melrose Avenue, will follow the screening to launch MashUp’s International Women’s Day weekend. On Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the City of West Hollywood and its Women’s Advisory Board will host a Women’s Health Symposium in support of the health and well-being of women in the community. The event will be held at the Plummer Park Community Center, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard. The day will feature guest speakers, panels, and workshops on a wide range of health and wellness topics to promote awareness and preventive care, and to highlight City-funded healthcare resources and services. On Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the City of West Hollywood and its Russian-Speaking Advisory Board will host a free program celebrating International Women’s Day at Plummer Park’s Fiesta Hall, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard. The celebration will feature performances, music, dancing, and art highlighting the achievements and contributions of women to the community. Admission is free. On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Writing Together: Pomodoros, Marinara, and Friendship will take place online. This moderated literary conversation about art, discipline, and the sustaining power of community will bring together writers Jade Chang, Angela Flournoy, Aja Gabel, Jean Chen Ho, and Xuan Juliana Wang to reflect on building a creative practice rooted in friendship. WeHo Reads is a literary series presented by the City of West Hollywood. The event is free and will stream live on the YouTube WeHo Arts channel at www.youtube.com/wehoarts. On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the 29th Annual West Hollywood Women in Leadership Awards and Reception will take place at the Andaz West Hollywood, located at 8401 Sunset Boulevard. This year’s honorees are Julia Camara Calvo, Owner, Atacama Home; Julie Friedman, MPH, Director, UCLA Iris Cantor Women’s Health and Education Center; Mary Nouskajian, Owner and Director, Fountain Day School; Tara Punzone, Chef and Owner, Pura Vita; and Genevieve Morrill, Former President and CEO, West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who will receive a special lifetime achievement award. The event is co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood and its Women’s Advisory Board along with the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Admission is $25. On Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives – one of the largest archives in the world dedicated to collecting, protecting, and preserving lesbian and feminist history and culture – will host Off the Page: Poetry from the Archives – Mazer Women’s Herstory Poetry, an event celebrating Women’s Herstory Month through the power of poetry. The program will be moderated by Jen Cheng, Poet Laureate of the City of West Hollywood, and will feature renowned Southern California women reading selections from the Archives, including special guest Eloise Klein Healy, inaugural Poet Laureate of Los Angeles. The event will be held at the City of West Hollywood’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. Admission is free.
